Wombourne Parish Council was originally established in 1894 and took its present form in 1974. We represent the first tier of local Government being the closest to the Community.
The Parish Council Office is located at Wombourne Civic Centre, Gravel Hill, Wombourne, WV5 9HA and is staffed on a part time basis by the Clerk to the Council, Mrs Rachael Wright and the Assistant Clerk, Mrs Judith Vasiljevic.
The Parish is made up of three wards: North Ward (six seats), South East Ward (four seats) and South West Ward (five seats), a total of 15 Parish Councillors in all. You can find information about your Councillors here – Parish Councillor contact details.
You can contact the Clerk by telephone on 01902 896 300, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Parish Council Office is usually open from 8.30am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday unless the Clerk or Assistant Clerk are on holiday or absent from the office, then the opening hours will be published in a news post on the front page of this website. There is an answering machine service should you wish to leave a message at other times.
Full Council meetings start at 7.30pm and there is a public participation session at the beginning of the meeting which starts at 7.15pm. The meetings usually take place on the first Monday of the month (with the exception of January and in August when there are no meetings) and take place in the Council Chamber adjacent to the Civic Centre.
Parking is available at the rear of the Civic Centre building, and there is disabled access both to the Parish Council Office and the Council Chamber.
The Parish Council owns and manages Poolhouse Play Area, Bratch Park, Brickbridge Playing Fields and changing rooms, the public conveniences in the village centre, as well as the Civic Centre Complex which houses the Parish Council Offices, function and meeting rooms.
The annual Christmas Lights Switch On in Wombourne is organised by the Parish Council and the illuminations in the trees to the front of the Civic Centre, around the Cricket Green and in Windmill Bank are all provided and paid for by the Council.
The Parish Council annually support Small Business Saturday (usually the first Saturday in December) to encourage local residents into the Village shops as well as Wombourne Carnival providing its facilities free of charge for this popular annual event. The Parish Council also supports The Best Kept Village Committee in keeping the Village neat and tidy by providing an annual grant to the group and providing complimentary facilities for their monthly meetings.
The Civic Reception is an annual event in the Parish Calendar to recognise the work of our Councillors and other volunteers in the parish.
