Remembrance Day 2020
We’re pleased to announce along with St Benedict’s Church Wombourne the plans for this Remembrance Sunday.
The Government issued guidelines on 3rd November which the Parish Council and St Benedict’s Church Wombourne have now consulted on.
Chairman of the Parish Council, Councillor Daniel Kinsey will be laying a wreath at the War Memorial at 11am this coming Sunday on behalf of the whole community.
We are asking residents NOT to attend the War Memorial this Sunday. We appreciate that this may be the first year some residents have not been able to pay their respects on Remembrance Sunday, however, this is for everyone’s safety.
The Parish Council will be live streaming the Act of Remembrance from their Facebook page on Sunday, so be sure to check it out.
If you wish to pay your respects on Sunday, please consider standing on your doorstep at 11am to observe a 2 minute silence as a mark of respect for those that have died in time of war and to give thanks for the service of veterans.
Alternatively, you can purchase a Remembrance Cross from the Royal British Legion available in Church, which can be placed in front of the War Memorial between the four crosses that mark its corners. Donations for the Royal British Legion should be placed in the grey wall safe by the Church door.
If you have any queries, please feel free to contact the Parish Council Office on 01902 896300.
