Christmas light switch on 2019
Wombourne Parish Council kicked off the festive season with a bang on Friday evening at the annual Christmas Light Switch On event.
Blakeley Heath Primary School Choir started the proceedings in style and did a fabulous job of getting everyone in the festive mood – well done to all the children and teachers involved.
We were lucky enough to have Santa Claus in attendance, courtesy of Sedgley and Wombourne Rotary Club.
Chairman, Councillor Dan Kinsey counted us down to the illuminations being switched on with the addition of a Christmas tree at the front of the Civic Centre this year, courtesy of the recently formed Christmas Tree Committee headed up by local residents Vicky Bratt, Simon Williams and Alison Brasier-Creagh.
The sky was once again lit up with a fantastic firework display paid for by the Parish Council and put on by local firm Fire Monkey Pyro.
Hopefully everyone managed to get into the village before or after the lights had been switched on and visited Kingsway Church who were once again hosting their Winter Wonderland and the Community Centre where Wombourne and District Community Association were hosting a range of community groups and offering free tea and cake. Lots of the businesses stayed open late too so we hope it was a successful evening for everyone.
Huge thanks to all the residents who came out to support the event on Friday night, we are sure you will agree it was one to remember!
